So, you have been living with a hundred people around you? And you have a hundred kids around trying snatching your personal space?
Argh! I know there are a million reasons why we do not love living in a joint family. There are obviously a lot of members in the family that leaves you sitting in between a lot of kids and basically turns you into a nanny. Not to forget, there are no secrets, everything you do is known to everyone.
It might sometimes be a lot of fun having so many people around to talk to, but let's accept it, it's not at all easy!
1. You have at least one irritating kid around.
You cannot do away with saying,"I don't like kids anymore." You have to do it; you have to go through the moments of a child shouting at the top of his lungs. You have to be a nanny for sure and how can you even forget taking care of that annoying kid because "Hello! Everyone else is busy."
2. When you commit a crime, add five more lectures to your list.
No, it is not going to be just your mom and dad shouting at you because you broke the jar. There will be the added aunties and uncles glaring at you because YOU BROKE A GLASS JAR!
3. Food! Food! Everywhere.
With all the people around, you can imagine the amount of food and you possibly have no idea what you want to eat at a restaurant.
And it is not possible to cook for everyone. That will be a lot of food.
4. Watch your language.
You don't want a *beep* moment in front of your family, do you? For them, you're a very responsible person, a damsel or saint. You absolutely cannot let your heart out!
5. No boyfriend/ girlfriend policy allowed.
In case you are committed and have a lover, there is no way you can sneak him/ her in your house, so you run out of the house to have your happy romantic time.
6. Ego clash
When there are too many people in a family, one of them is going to brush against the other's ego to the extent that there will be fights. Jealousy and insecurity can cause so much trouble in a joint family.
7. You'll always have a friend of course.
On the brighter side, you won't need to call a friend home if you want to laugh or have fun with, even if you need a 4 a.m. friend to cry with. You will always have him/ her around.
8. An overdose of festivities.
During festivals, living in a joint family is the best feeling ever. There are so much food and so many people at home, just all together under one roof and laughing the night away.
9. The "Nazar na lage" aunty is a blessing.
How can a family be complete if there is no one who does the "Nazar utarne wala kaam"?
